At least 735 learners, who sat  the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination in Kitui County are set to benefit from full scholarships being offered by the Equity Bank Foundation.

Governor Charity Ngilu, who spoke to the beneficiaries at Kitui High School, praised the foundation for supporting education in the country.

She said the bank has given incredible opportunity to the needy pupils to realise their dreams in pursuing education despite poor conditions in their households.

“I encourage you to take this opportunity to empower yourselves. You have demonstrated that you can make it and we believe in you”. She told the learners drawn from across the county.

She praised the pupils for excelling in their examination and urged them to exhaust the chance at hand and improve their lives after completion of their education.

The Governor, however, challenged the beneficiaries to work hard in school as ambassadors of the county, adding that the foundation had played a key role in supporting the education sector in the county.

Kitui Equity Bank branch manager Francis Mbindyo said the bank sponsors needy learners with excellent performance to help them realise dreams.

Some of the beneficiaries Kelvin Muema and Grace Ndinda thanked the foundation for the sponsorship saying it was a key stride to their growth and many others in the county.
