Government to convene meeting on TSC transfers
The government has agreed to convene a meeting between the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and top leadership from North Eastern region over the education crisis in the region following the former’s decision to transfer all non-local teachers from the area.
Interior CS Fred Matiang’i said that he together with Education CS George Magoha will meet governors, senators and MPs from the region to find a solution on the matter.
Said Matiang’i: “I have taken serious concerns on education issues that have been raised here. I want to assure that together with my colleague Magoha we will get in to this to see how to resolve the issue.
To do this I will be requesting for a meeting with governors, senators, MPs and of course TSC so that we can find a solution to this.”
TSC has so far transferred more than 3,000 non-local teachers from Wajir, Mandera and Garissa counties following terror attacks targeting the tutors.
Speaking when he attended a home coming luncheon for National Treasury CS Ukur Yattani, Matiang’i asked the leaders not to politicise the matter but to allow the government to come up with a solution on the way forward. According to him, the government is keen on eliminating Al Shabaab.
