Environment and Forestry Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko has disclosed that the government will introduce commercial forestry.

Research scientists have already proposed high quality seedlings for farmers and government in order to achieve the goals of successfully commercialising forestry.

Tobiko (pictured), however, decried what he called a serious disconnect between research and implementation of the same.
He regretted that most successful research works are hardly applied nor implemented.

He was speaking yesterday at the Muguga-based Kenya Forestry Research Institute headquarters during the official opening of the first Kenya Commercial Forestry Investment Conferences and Expo in Kiambu county.
He lauded KEFRI for leading in finding solutions to forestry and environmental challenges.

“I am glad that the conference and expo is in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four Agenda,” he said.

Tobiko was flanked by his PS Dr Chris Kiptoo, KEFRI Director Dr Joshua Cheboiwo, CAS Mohammed Elmi and a host of directors of public and private agencies.
