Likoni tragedy: Vehicle position spotted

Wednesday, October 9th, 2019 15:32 | By

Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has said divers have located two possible positions where the vehicle that plunged into Indian Ocean at Likoni ferry channel on September 29 with two occupants on board could be found.

“We cannot confirm with certainty that the vehicle is among the objects located at the two spots,” said Oguna.

“However, we are hopeful that by end of today (Wednesday) or early tomorrow, we would have verified what those objects are,” said the spokesperson while addressing journalists at the Likoni Ferry channel.

Oguna's confirmation came barely one hour after a section of the media reported that the victims’ bodies had been found.

Mariam Kigenda Taita, 35, and her daughter died after the vehicle they were traveling in slid off MV Harambee on September 29.
