Outspoken Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has maintained that he is in United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to stay.

Keter who has been among Rift Valley leaders viewed not to be supporting Deputy President (DP) William Ruto’s presidential bid, yesterday said that he has no personal differences with him.

“We only differ on ideologies. My only problem is that I only speak my mind. I’m firmly in UDA and I’m here to stay,” said Keter.

He however warned the DP to be wary of some leaders in his camp who he said were sowing seeds of discord through their utterances.

Independent candidates
Keter who spoke during a live morning interview at Chamgei FM, expressed optimism that UDA nominations will be free and fair.

“Let the voice of the people prevail. Many people want us out of UDA but we are here to stay. Tutapambana papa hapa (We will face off here),” he said.

He warned of massive fallout should UDA primaries be marred by irregularities, which he said will compromise the DP’s candidature.  There has been speculation that Keter and some Rift Valley leaders viewed not to be supporting the DP, were contemplating vying as independent candidates in the coming polls, fearing that they will be given a raw deal in UDA primaries.

Keter, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and Kesses MP Swarup Mishra were among leaders who were on the receiving end during the DP’s tour of the North Rift recently.
