Nyali MP  Mohamed Ali yesterday faulted the ruling Jubilee Party’s decision to kick senators allied to Deputy President William Ruto out of the House leadership, terming the move dictatorial and insensitive to Kenyans.

Ali said the move by Jubilee was an indication that the leadership has no interests of Kenyans at heart.

He said it was heartless for the leadership to continue with party politics at a time like this when the nation is facing Covid-19 crisis.

“How the hell do you carry on with politics while people are suffering from Covid-19? We are seeing demolitions and people are busy plotting about leadership,”said Ali who claimed that schemers of  Ruto’s downfall “will be met with shocking defeat.”

The lawmaker, who spoke while handing over relief food to the Kenya Red Cross for distribution in Nyali, was accompanied by Mombasa Jubilee party politician Mohamed Salim.

“Rather than thinking of injecting money to grow the economy, we are here playing politics,” added Ali.

Challenge ouster

Salim, alias Tenge, said the changes in the Jubilee party are illegal as the party has had no elections, therefore, any decision made without consultation of key party members is null and void.

Kipchumba Murkomen, theformer Senate Majority leader was ousted after a lengthy meeting at State House on Monday, May 11, attended by some Jubilee Party members, according to State House.

Murkomen was replaced by West-Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio while Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata took Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika’s place. The duo moved to court to challenge the ouster.

Ali also renewed calls for enhanced transparency and accountability of Covid-19 resources by the Ministry of Health.
