NHIF staff who vanished to record statement
A National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) accountant who went missing on 17 July but was later found unconscious five days later has been discharged from the hospital.
Grace Andeyo is expected to record her statement today to help detectives retrace her last movements and also establish what had actually transpired.
“We have not gathered much information about what could have happened.
Our detectives are yet to record her statement,” Kilimani Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss Fatuma Hadi said.
The detectives will also seek to know why she did not use her car. Andeyo left the office on Friday around 1pm and left her bag, mobile phone and car.
Detectives, however, said she carried another phone with an Airtel line, which was switched off the following day.
On Tuesday, 21 July, she was allegedly dropped off at Kings Millennium Apartments in Imara Daima.
The taxi driver, Gilbert Mokaya, said Ms Andeyo approached him at the Imara taxi stage and asked him to drop her home. She had a piece of paper indicating her home address and Sh200.
The detectives have since grilled the taxi driver. According to the guards at the KNH office and colleagues, she was in a blue dress and was carrying a small paper bag.
