Novelist Ken Walibora dies in Nairobi

Renowned author and journalist Ken Walibora died on Friday, April 10 while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after he was hit by a matatu on Landhies Road, Nairobi.

His family had reported him as missing since Friday.

A Mercedes-Benz car key and press card were found in his pockets when he was taken to KNH.

Until his death, Walibora was a senior lecturer at Riara University.

Among the books he authored are Siku Njema, Kidagaa Kimemwozea and Ndoto ya Almasi

Walibora taught at Ohio State University where he obtained a masters and PhD in Comparative Cultural Studies and later worked as an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

When he left the United States for Kenya, Prof Walibora worked at the Nation Media Group where he was the Swahili editor for all its platforms until 2019.

Before furthering his studies in the US, Walibora was a news anchor at the NMG between 1999 and 2004.
