Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu) boss Francis Atwoli has asked Deputy President William Ruto to record a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations over the murder of Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei.

Atwoli, who launched scathing attack on the DP over his handling of the matter, accused the latter of hypocrisy.

He claimed the death of Kenei, a high ranking security officer at Harambee House Annex, has further tainted the integrity of the DP.

“The DP cannot tell us that people used his office for one hour 22 minutes without his knowledge and that no one informed him that some people were using his office. How can we believe that?” posed Atwoli.

The trade unionist distanced himself from an alleged plot to eliminate Ruto.

Atwoli clarified that his statement on Ruto referred to his name being on the 2022 presidential ballot papers  rather than his life.

“The Deputy President is walking around saying there are people enjoying freedom even after saying he will not be there in 2022.

“I didn’t say he will not be there in 2022. He needs to watch that clip again. It’s all over what I said in Lamu and this is what I said; people will vote, we will vote for a president but his name will not be on the ballot,” said Atwoli.
