President Uhuru Kenyatta has extended the current curfew, which is in place from 10pm to 4am, for further 60 days.

In his national address on Friday, the President also directed hotels and bars to close by 9pm.

Political and social gatherings have also been banned for 30 days.

"These measures will be extended if there will be further escalation of coronavirus cases," Uhuru said.

Religious leaders have been directed to ensure sitting capacity in their places of worship does not exceed one-third.

Funeral services will also happen within 72 hours of death.

"The funeral service will be strictly a family affair," he said.
