Embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has made a political about-turn about his association with Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking on Sunday for the first time in public in more than two months, the governor said he is fully behind President Uhuru Kenyatta’s position regarding the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

Waititu, who was barred by the High Court from performing his official duties until a corruption case against him is heard and determined, hinted that he would soon return to office and that his woes would soon be over.

One team

Addressing the faithful at the Kiu African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa in Githurai, the county boss attributed his tribulations to political differences in the ruling Jubilee Party.

“I know I have been victimised and targeted for being seen to be leading those on the other side,” he said in reference to his association with the Ruto-led TangaTanga wing of Jubilee.

Waititu said political wrangles in Kiambu had ended following the President’s meeting with Central Kenya leaders at Sagana State Lodge last week.

“We are all one team now,” said Waititu, who attended the Sagana meeting alongside his deputy James Nyoro.
