Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici on Thursday, January 19, met President Uhuru Kenyatta after officially ditching Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

In a statement she shared on her official Facebook page, Ngirici said that she was part of the politicians who joined President Uhuru Kenyatta at the National Police College Main Campus Kiganjo in Nyeri to witness a police pass-out.

“Earlier today I joined His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta at the National Police College Main Campus Kiganjo in Nyeri County where he presided over the passing out parade of 298 direct entry inspectorate cadet officers,” she posted on Facebook.

Ngirici who was DP Ruto’s close ally turned foe decamped from UDA and warmed up to the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.

Ngirici who is eyeing the Kirinyaga County gubernatorial seat has been a fierce critique of area Governor Anne Waiguru.

The Woman Representative was among a host of leaders supporting DP Ruto in the vast Mount Kenya region until Waiguru joined UDA and announced that she will be defending her seat on the party’s ticket.

Waiguru said she made the move after holding a series of meetings with the people of Kirinyaga who asked her to work with Ruto.

This week, Waiguru drummed up support for the DP stating that she told President Kenyatta about her plans before moving to UDA.
