Ethan Nyachae and Tai Wahome were the toast of the weekend as the penultimate round of the motocross season took place at Jamhuri race track on Sunday.

With the championship set to take a one-month break before the final round, top riders were all out on the tracks gunning for key points especially in the main categories.

The MX 2 and MX 125CC classes were the most competitive within the heats that had 15 laps and an extra fast lap for all riders.

In the MX2 class, Nyachae won all three heats atop his KTM 2,500cc bike as he was effective in his execution especially on bends as he controlled his pace well enough to fend off the competition.

The first two heats were clean and easy for him but in the last run, he had to be calculative to ward off an imminent challenge from Kigen Kiplagat who had an eventful race that included retirement on heat one.

Nyachae picked 60 points with Maxine Wahome second on 47 points. Meanwhile in the MX2 challenge, another heavyweight tussle was witnessed with Tai Wahome and Dylan Wahome going at each other in epic proportion.

However, it was the former who saw off his kin by clinching all the heats for a commanding 11-point difference at close of count.

In the MX 85 class, Alex Kandie collected 53 points after an indifferent run in his heats. He had two wins and a surprising fourth place ahead of Nandi Kiplagat who amassed 50 points at close of the sessions.
