Farmers Party leader Irungu Nyakera has dismissed calls by some United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders who are pushing for a six-piece suit voting in the August 9 polls.

Nyakera claims that the UDA party has been overshadowing other parties in Kenya Kwanza coalition; a thing he says is against the coalition's agreement.

Speaking in Murang'a County on Monday, Nyakera, who is eyeing the Murang'a gubernatorial seat, said the coalition's pact was that all the parties would be treated equally but that has not been the case.

"We are 11 parties under the Kenya Kwanza but UDA seems to be taking the center stage by advocating for the election of its members only; which should not be the case.

"We want all the parties under the coalition to have equal opportunities but this cannot be if one party is acting superior over the others," Nyakera said.

He said the six-piece suit voting is a thing of the past and should not be encouraged at any given time, adding that those elected are fronted by the parties and thus become puppets.

"We know what happened in 2017 and we can't afford to repeat the same mistake," he remarked.

Nyakera said they have raised the issue with the Kenya Kwanza top officials and they are hoping to get it addressed.

The candidate urged the electorate to vote for leaders based on their development track record.

"If we don't have the right leaders at the national and county level, we are never going to realize any meaningful development," he added.
