The Orange Democratic Party has kicked out Rarieda MP Otiende Omolo out of the prestigious Justice and Legal Affairs Parliamentary Committee (JLAC).

Otiende’s ejection from the prestigious committee where he served as Deputy Chairman comes after the MP stated that he was ready to step down should ODM proceed with its plans regarding the BBI

In Otiende’s replacement at JLAC, ODM has fronted Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang to serve under under Kangema MP Muturi Kigano.

Responding to his expected ouster, Otiende tweeted stating, “the vicissitudes of politics. So, the schemers want me out of JLAC. I will take it in grace and stride.”

When Parliament was recalled from recess towards the end of April to discuss the BBI constitutional amendment fronted by President Uhuru Kenyatta,

Otiende disagreed with Minority Leader John Mbadi after Mbadi argues that the BBI bill can be amended by Parliament even after the document had been appended by signatures of voters.

However, while admitting that some members of ODM were at loggerheads when it came to the proposed constitutional amendments, ODM’s Director of Communications Philip Etale stated that ODM would pass the bill in unison as a party.

“As a party, we wish to assure our members, supporters and the general public that our legislators are only differing on substance but have a common agreement that they will all pass the Bill on the voting day,” Etale claimed in part of his statement.
