Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga yesterday took his Azimio La Umoja politics to Kajiado county promising to address the county’s challenges.

Speaking at Ongata Rongai during the burial of former Kajiado Senator Peter Mositet’s father, Korinko Mositet, Raila reassured Kenyans that he was committed to implement his unity call through the Azimio La Umoja initiative.

“The clarion call of uniting Kenyans through Azimio is the way for a safer Kenya. I am committed to seeing this country united. Peaceful co-existence and unity of purpose will also ensure democracy because as Kenyans, we will love and respect one another,’’ he said.

Raila said his manifesto has considered the interest of all Kenyans including crucial development that can only be attained through having good health care services.

Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku who is seeking re-election for a second term, said he has been in the forefront in uniting Kajiado residents and other leaders should embrace the same.

Mositet urged Kajiado residents to support the Jubilee government to deliver its promises.

“We are so grateful to our President and we pledge our loyalty to him. We are major beneficiaries of infrastructure projects being undertaken by the Jubilee government,’’ said Mositet.

Separately, some leaders in Kisii county have lashed out at Meru Senator Mithika Linturi describing his recent madoadoa remarks as reckless and unfortunate.

Governor James Ongwae, Woman Rep Janet Ong’era, Kisii County Assembly Leader of Majority Timothy Ogugu and Bosoti Sengera Ward Rep Ibrahim Ombuya asked  the senator to apologise to Kenyans over the remark and urged leaders to stop making careless remarks.

“I have been in Tangatanga and I have left after the unfortunate remark. Our people stay everywhere and we want peace,” Ombuya said.

They spoke at Tendere stadium in Bomachoge Chache constituency  during the funeral of Deputy Governor Joash Maangi’s mother, Martha Kwamboka.

They drummed up support for Raila’s presidential bid and asked residents to register as voters when the second phase of the exercise kicks off next week.

Meanwhile, Siaya Senator James Orengo yesterday warned the Mt Kenya region  against voting for Ruto terming him unfit to lead  a country.

While drumming support for Raila, Orengo claimed  Ruto is unfit to run a nation which is focused on economic liberation and improving living standards of its citizens.

“We cannot trust our nation that is focused on reviving and boosting the economy in the hands of some leaders,” said Orengo.

Speaking in Meru, while accompanied by the Mt Kenya Azimio La Umoja coordinator Mweha Kamau during the campaign launch of Zablon Mathenge, who is contesting for North Imenti Parliamentary seat, the senator also trashed the Bottom Up Model, saying it was a gimmick meant to blindfold voters

“Stop being fooled by UDA with their Bottom Up narrative this just a mere economic myth that can never be realised because somebody has been in power for ten years and being a Deputy President why did not initiate that economic growth from bottom. We are warning you not  to vote for empty promises,” said the senator.

Kamau accused the DP of misusing  Meru Senator Mithika Linturi who was arrested over his Madoadoa remarks in Eldoret.

He called on Linturi to join the Azimio La Umoja movement ahead of the August general election.

“If you see a dog barking it has been sent by the owner so Linturi should leave that camp that is misleading him,” added Kamau.
