ODM leaders urged to campaign for Boga ah**d of Kwale by-election

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has urged elected leaders in Kwale to campaign for Omar Boga in the Msambweni parliamentary by-election.
Speaking yesterday at Pride Inn Hotel in Diani during a meeting with ODM elected leaders, Sifuna called on them to embark on robust campaigns in a bid to recapture the seat.
“We have to work together for the purpose of winning this seat. Let us unite and campaign for our candidate tirelessly until the last day,” he said.
Sifuna said he was pleased with the unity of the ODM elected leaders in the county and expressed optimism that they will work together and retain the seat.
“Unity is strength. I can see the Kwale ODM team is united. This tells me that they will campaign hard together to recapture the seat,” he said.
The party boss warned civil servants against campaignsing in the Msambweni poll.
He said ODM was aware of some sub-county and ward administrators who were criss-crossing the constituency campaigning for a certain candidate.
“We are aware of the county staff who are busy politicking here instead of doing their work. You either stop or we will report the matter to the relevant authorities,” he said.
Officially launch
ODM will officially launch its campaigns for the Msambweni parliamentary seat next Sunday. The party leadership led by Raila Odinga is expected to attend.
Sifuna at the same time expressed confidence that Boga will carry the day in the by-election set for December 15, saying Msambweni is an ODM zone.
And at Jogoo grounds in Diani during the campaign for Independent candidate Feisal Abdallah Bader, Members of Parliament in the Coast allied to Deputy President William Ruto accused ODM of going against the party’s tradition of supporting relatives of departed lawmakers by abandoning Dori.
Kinango MP Benjamin Tayari said ODM had abandoned Abdallah Bader, the late Suleiman Dori’s nephew yet in other parts of the country; the party has always backed relatives of deceased lawmakers.
“We all know it is ODM that started this tradition of supporting a family member whenever a leader passes on.
So why did they abandon Feisal? We saw what happened in Kibra, Homa Bay and other areas, Why not Feisal,” Tayari posed.
