ODM leadership plan to eject Jumwa from key House post
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership has hinted at plans to oust Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa from her position in the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).
This comes after she was arrested two weeks ago over the death of a voter in Kilifi.
At the same time, the ODM leadership in Kilifi is also spearheading collection of signatures to recall the legislator from office since “she is not fit to serve people of Malindi”. The exercise will be led by MCAs.
The party Chief Whip and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, with the backing of some local legislators, said ODM would institute disciplinary procedures to remove Jumwa from the lucrative PSC commissioner position.
“That position of commissioner was reserved for Malindi people, but Jumwa has continued to embarrass our party. Something punitive is coming her way,” said Junet.
The official claimed the party has no option but to deal with her accordingly.
“Malindi people have spoken. We are going to remove her from that position because she has failed you Malindi people,’’ added Junet.
He said he has been in Parliament with Jumwa for two terms and she was “behaving well until she crossed over to the Deputy President William Ruto’s camp”.

At the same time, Kilifi Woman Representative Getrude Mbeyu said she would spearhead the process of collecting signatures through all the MCAs to have the MP recalled and a fresh by-election called.
The announcement was made during the burial of Michael Ngumbao Jola, an uncle of the Ganda MCA-elect Reuben Katana.
Jola was shot on October 15 after Jumwa stormed a meeting organised at Katana’s home, leading to the eruption of chaos.
The MP was arrested the same night and held at Port Police Station but was not charged after the prosecution asked for 21 days to complete investigations.
Jumwa and her alleged accomplice were released on a Sh500,000 bond and are supposed to report to the DCI Malindi every Tuesday.
ODM Party leader Raila Odinga, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Kilifi’s Amason Kingi, Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, his Kilifi South counterpart Ken Chonga, Mbeyu, Magarini legislator Michael Kingi, and Senator Stewart Madzayo, among others, attended the burial on Saturday.
