Nyamira Senator Okong’o Mogeni has called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and Directorate of Criminal Investigations to investigate further claims of impropriety of Sh2.3 billion in the county as  highlighted by office of the Auditor General.

Auditor General Nancy Gathungu last week listed Nyamira among five counties that had not properly accounted for colossal amounts of cash dispatched from the National Treasury by the end of the Fiscal Year that ended in June 2023.

Nyamira was ranked amongst counties flagged by the Auditor over issues ranging from failure to prove how the monies were spent, variance in financial expenditure records and payments for services not rendered to ballooning wage bills.

Following the revelations, Mogeni, also chairman of the Senate’s Standing Committee of Justice and Legal affairs has called upon the investigative agencies to act and take action against officers found guilty of the allegations.

Omogeni said EACC, in particular was not acting to expectations by expediting cases of reported corruption which he noted were heaping without action.
