Ongwae faults poor usage of face masks among Kisii residents
As the country battles Covid 19, Kisii county Governor, James Ongwae has deplored poor usage of face masks and flouting curfew rules in the area, saying it is negating the fight against the pandemic.
The governor noted some residents hanged masks on their necks, chins while others kept them in the pocket, noting majority had been arrested and taken to Kisii Boys national school pre-quarantine centre.
He said the 300 bed- Centre, launched recently, has 150 people who flouted the curfew’s 7.00.pm to 5.am directive while others failed to wear masks.
Speaking in Kisii town after he launched integrated street light project funded by the national government, he said he is concern on who will pay for the quarantined people, adding each person pays Ksh. 2000 per day for accommodation and food.
“Covid 19 is real but some people are taking it for granted. You will have to advise on who will pay for the people quarantined at kisii boys national school,” Ongwae said.
The governor, accompanied by Kenya Power Regional Manager, Jeremiah Kinda and Police Commander, Jebel Munene urged residents to pray that more Covid cases are not reported from the county.
