Only 11,000 invited guests will be allowed into Uhuru Gardens during Sunday’s Jamhuri Day celebrations.

Speaking yesterday while assessing the venue, Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho (pictured) said the construction is 95 per cent complete.

The PS, who is leading the national celebrations committee, said the main dais will only have 1,000 people while the remaining 10,000 guests will occupy the public sitting area in accordance with the Ministry of Health Covid-19 protocols.

“We are happy with the progress and I can confirm that everything has been perfectly done. What we are remaining with is only decorations,” he said.

Routine system
He added: “On Thursday my team and I will be visiting the facility to ensure everything is complete.”

On invitations, Kibicho said the government is keen to ensure Covid-19 protocols are observed.

“We want to be fair on this. The invitations will be done through our routine system to ensure every Kenyan is represented,” he said.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to inaugurate the facility during the Jamhuri Day celebrations.
