Oscar Sudi surrenders after an unsuccessful police raid
Wanted Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi on Sunday morning presented himself for arrest after police unsuccessfully raided his home.
The drama surrounding Sudi's arrest began on Friday evening where tens of officers acting on commands from the Uasin Gishu County Police Commander camped around his residence to arrest him.
The officers faced hostile residents, blocked roads and among other obstacles allegedly mounted by the MP's supporters.
An unsuccessful raid on the MP's home on Saturday morning left two people injured; a General Service Unit(GSU) officer and a civilian.
In the raid, police were blocked by a resisting crowd which prompted them to force their way in.
According to a report, the police did not find him even after raiding his house.
"A search was conducted in the residence but unfortunately, the MP had already fled," read the statement
Upon entry, the police report says unknown people shot from inside Sudi's compound injuring Constable John Muiruri. Upon searching, the police did not find Sudi.
Two officers, Simon Siengo and Issack Dida, attached to the Presidential Escort Unit were found inside the residence and arrested immediately. The third officer is said to have fled with the MP. The arresting officers found a cache of weapons from the MP's home.
On Sunday morning, Sudi arrived at the Langas Police Station at about 8 am in the company of a lawyer and MPs Caleb Kositany (Soy), Cornelius Serem (Aldai) and Didmus Barasa (Kimilili) among others.
Oscar Sudi is wanted for alleged hate speech remarks against the first family.
