Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Sam Nyamweya has termed comments by a Nairobi-based lawyer Amos Otieno as baseless, going towards the long awaited football polls.

Otieno while presenting his nomination papers at the FKF Electoral Board told People Sport that he had no links with the former football chief, refuting initial claims that he filed a case on behalf of Nyamweya, to bar the elections.

“I want to state categorically that I'm not representing Nyamweya in any football case.

I have been a lawyer for Kenyan Premier League (KPL), but that does not change my stand on football reforms.

I fully support the reforms and want the elections to be held as per the ruling of the Sports Disputes Tribunal,” Otieno told People Sport.

Nyamweya said he suspected the timing and motive of the declaration, since Otieno had never represented him and said the development would not hinder any other interested parties to express their democratic right in supporting the cause for FKF electoral justice and reforms.

“I take this great exception to the reports circulating in a section of the mainstream and social media with regard to my Legal representatives in matters pertaining to FKF elections.

I wish to state that I have engaged two law firms to represent me in all the matters pertaining to FKF Elections,” Nyamweya said.

He added: “The two law firms are CBG Ouma & Co Advocates and Kerandi Manduku & Co Advocates.”
