KANU Secretary General Nick Salat has dismissed a statement by the party's Executive Director George Wainaina, insisting that the party will finally join Azimio la Umoja Movement.

In a statement, Salat said the party members have declared that their vision is best captured in Azimio.

"I wish to state categorically and without fear of contradiction that 90 per cent of KANU leadership and membership have their heart. soul and mind in Azimio.

"KANU leaders and members have overwhelmingly endorsed Azimio in public with majority of elected leaders declaring that they will defend their positions under KANU ticket under Azimio la Umoja Movement," Salat said.

He further dismissed Wainaina saying he has never been appointed as the party executive director and he has no rights to speak on behalf of the independent party.

"I'm the only bonafide person to speak on behalf of the party as its Secretary General," he said.

In a statement on Thursday morning, Wainaina had said that the party is firmly in One Kenya Alliance (OKA).

“We wish to make it very clear that the party is firmly in OKA and is in constant consultation with the other partner members on the ongoing discussions with the Azimio la Umoja coalition," he said.

He added: "We have taken a common position that our talks with the Azimio and any other parties, must be structured, open and honest if we are to make progress."

Wainaina also dismissed Salat's earlier remarks that the party was headed to Azimio.

"The sentiments should not be misconstrued to be that of the party," Wainaina said.
