Newly-hired Kenya Police coach Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo has declared that he is in no mood to dish out any favours to his immediate former employer Gor Mahia when the two teams clash in a potentially pulsating Kenya Premier League match at Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Sunday.

Omollo, who replaced legend John “Bobby”Ogolla in the law enforcers’ dug-out, has urged his charges to play the match of their lives, home ground disadvantage notwithstanding.

“I have been hired by Police to deliver and common sense dictates that we try to put Gor to the sword.  I know their (Gor’s) weak points and we hope to use that to our advantage,” said Omollo who will be assisted in the coaching duties by his fellow international player Musa “Otero” Otieno.

Omollo said that when he landed at his new job, he found the Police side thirsting for success and would relish continuing the legacy.

“Obviously, there is a burning desire to succeed and if the players remain focused, we shall achieve what we want,” offered Omollo.

However, over and above, it will be a chance for three Police players in Cliffton Miheso, Haroun Shakava and Musa Mohammed to renew acquaintance with their former K’ogalo colleagues.

The trio have seen big battles before and so does the current Gor players like George “Blackberry” Odhiambo, Jules Ulimwengu, Samuel Onyango and Congolese Sando Yangayay which tells you that the match will be a cliffhanger of sorts.

Gor are expected to take to the match a vengeful lot after forfeiting their ill-fated match against Vihiga Bullets in Kasarani last month following chaos triggered by their fans.

Moreover, the FKF caretaker committee has also ordered Gor to play their next two matches behind closed doors, beginning with today’s fixture against Police.

With a total of seven matches on the menu this weekend, KCB, who are occupying the sixth position, will be going flat out to end a five-match winless streak when they face Wazito.

Once considered a red-hot title contender before drifting into an odd placing, KCB last tasted victory on January 23 when they dispatched Posta Rangers and anything short of a win will not be acceptable to their fans.

Another interesting aspect of the weekend roster is that, assuming Kariobangi Sharks beat Tusker in Ruaraka on Saturday and Gor losses to Police, the big ‘fish’ of deep seas, who are perched in the fifth position,  will enjoy an overnight third placing place that is currently being occupied by Nairobi City Stars.

However City Stars, aka Simba wa Nairobi, will be in no mood to relinquish the place and have set their targets at dodging Vihiga Bullets when the teams face off at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday. ABSA being the Presenting Partner will be in-charge primarily of a sustainable plan in the development of golf beyond supporting logistics for local players and caddies during the three day event. He has also lauded and appreciated the Government for showing growing support to ensure huge money goes into sports marketing and promotions which has spurred Corporate Interest as well.

The Kenyan contingent to the tour will include; Senior Pro-Dismas Indiza,Eric Ooko,Simon Ngige,David Wakhu,Moet Vedirata,Justus Madoya accompanied by Daniel Nduva and Ronald Rugamayo of Uganda. Some of the players on the wild-cards invited are South African pair of Tutu Thimba and Jayden Sheeper with the former being the last winner of the Karen Masters. Sheeper will also get a chance to hold clinics with junior players on the sidelines of the tournament.

Some of the big name pro-players from abroad who have confirmed participation for the event include; defending Champion Justin Harding,Swedish six time European Tour winner Sebastian Sodberg,Englishman Graeme Storm,Subhanka Sharma from India and Italian Lorenzo Vera amongst others.
