Pokot South MP David Pkosing has alleged that Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen has been funding conflict along West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet county borders.

Pkosing said there is some evidence that Murkomen is the cause of conflict along the border hence urged the government to investigate.

He said Murkomen’s loose mouth while speaking in West Pokot has directly fueled the banditry attack's along the border between the two communities.

Pkosing urged Murkomen to desist from abusing West Pokot leaders.

"Murkomen must stop his abuses, if he stops there will be no conflict along the border." he said.

Pkosing's sentiments come after Murkomen during the burial of Lelan ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Jonstone Lokato campaigned against the Pokot South MP asking residents to vote him out.

“Some people have been politicizing insecurity to get political mileage,” Murkomen said.

The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator slammed Pkosing for claiming that he is the one who constructed tarmac roads in the area while the former National Assembly Majority Leader said that it was done by Deputy President William Ruto.

The Pokot South MP, who was Ruto ally, is now supporting Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga for presidency.

According to Pkosing, the reason why Murkomen is inciting locals is to get more votes for Ruto. He said the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator has nothing to offer the Pokot community in terms of development projects.

The Pokot South MP noted that the politics being played by Murkomen has directly affected insecurity in the area.

Speaking on Monday, May 30th 2022, at Chepareria after being cleared by the independent Electoral commission [IEBC] to defend his seat on Kenya Union Party [KUP] for the third time, exuded confidence that Azimio will capture the presidency and that Pokot people will benefit immensely.

“When you sit in the seat of the winning government you are like a finance minister. Am like the Finance minister finance in the next Azimio Government of Raila. When my people see me they get I will be in a position to complete my projects. Elgeyo Marakwet people should trade carefully with Murkomen,” he said.

He further warned politicians who don't hail from West Pokot County to watch their mouths and stop abusing Pokot leaders.
