Deputy President William Ruto's rally at the Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi was temporarily disrupted after a section of youths started engaging in running battles with the police.

During the commotion, the riot police were deployed at the scene to help disperse the rowdy youths who attempted to disrupt the rally.

The disruption did not, however, interfere with the speakers who continued with their speeches as the police engaged the youths in running battles.

One of the speakers during the commotion would be heard telling the youths not to run away from the police tear gas. The speaker urged their supporters to instead throw the canisters back at the police.

"Tumekunywa tear gas tumeshiba, hii ni mwaki hapana kitu. Ukiona inakuja chukua uwarudishie. Tuko pamoja?" the speaker said.

The Jacaranda Grounds is not new to political drama. After the 2017 general elections, trucks loaded with human waste were dumped there in an effort to prevent ODM leader Raila Odinga from holding a political rally at the grounds.
