Police in Longisa Bomet County have arrested an officer for tearing a booklet for collecting signatures for the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) Constitutional Amendment Bill 2020.

According to a police statement from Longisa Police Station, the officer Peter Langat asked for the booklet from Kipreres Assistant Chief Robert Katam and upon receiving it, he tore the pages that had signatures.

"...while he was on the process of collecting signatures of Building Bridges Inititative Constitutional Amendment Bill 2020, one Kipsgis male adult named Peter Langat, who is a Police officer came and requested Mr. Katam of the book," reads the police statement in parts.

The officer who is stationed outside Bomet then threw the book into a nearby stream from where it was retrieved by the Assistant Chief.
