Political leaders endorse Mudavadi’s candidature for presidency in 2022

Politicians across the divide used the funeral service of Hannah Atsianzale, mother to Amani National Congress (ANC) Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi to drum up support for his candidature ahead of next year’s polls.
The politicians used the burial ceremony to endorse Mudavadi for the top seat, saying he was “the safest pair of hands that Uhuru could leave the county to.”
According to the politicians although President Uhuru Kenyatta did not publicly endorse him, they were impressed by the call for the country’s top leadership to go to other communities and not just revolve around the Kikuyu and Kalenjin.
The leaders however said even as they support Mudavadi’s bid, he should rally Luhyas behind him.
The leaders who included Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and MPs Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini), Elsie Muhanda (Kakamega Women Representative), Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, Swarup Mishra (Kesses), Alfred Agoi (Sabatia) Richard Tong’I (Nyaribari Chache) and Former Ford-Kenya Chairman and Webuye MP Musikari Kombo said Mudavadi was best suited to take over the country’s leadership.
“Mr President you are my political father, mentor and you know my politics is as clean as Musalia Mudavadi’s.
This country is sitting on the brink and needs leadership that will unite and not divide Kenyans. Please allow me to rally behind Musalia’s presidential bid,” said Sakaja
Added Agoi: “The President should support the right person to succeed him. Somebody who will be loyal to the rule of Law; who respects people’s property; someone who does not loot public property and one who can unite the country and grow the economy. That person is Musalia Mudavadi.”
Mishra on the other hand said, besides supporting the handshake “which was uniting the country and opposed to the hustler narrative “that is busy dividing the Nation”, he supported Mudavadi to succeed Uhuru. Mishra has been a close ally of the DP.
Wamalwa waded into politics saying the Mulembe Nation would back Mudavadi as a bloc.
“As a Luhya Nation we have become a laughing stock because we divide our votes at every election.
Mr President you are a Catholic like me please let us support Mudavadi and pray for him using the rosary to make sure he enters State House,” he said.
Muhanda who is a member of ODM and a close ally of the party leader Raila Odinga and his deputy Wycliffe Oparanya, also threw her weight behind Mudavadi, for the first time since she entered politics.
