Central Organization Trade Union (Cotu) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has said that his previous utterances that Deputy President William Ruto will not be president in 2022 is being taken out of context.

Speaking at Ildamat, Kajiado Central, Atwoli said he has never insinuated that Ruto will be denied presidency but instead he remains categorical that he will not win the elections.

The Cotu boss instead said he has no power to deny Ruto his democratic right whatsoever but the will of Kenyans will prevail in the ballot.

He says he is confident that Kenyans will reject Ruto's presidency.

"I have never said if Ruto wins elections he will not be allowed. If you have won elections you have won. What I have said time and again is that people will come out in large numbers to vote and Ruto will not garner numbers to make him president. If in case he wins the elections it is his constitutional right to be president in a democratic country, "said Atwoli.

He claimed that the Ruto's brigade will sink his ship through utterances that Kenyans are keenly observing.

According to Atwoli, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders including Senator Mithika Linturi's 'madoadoa' utterances is a representation of Ruto's position regarding other communities.

He further claimed that UDA affiliated leaders are disrespectful and inciting Kenyans thereby threatening national unity and cohesion.
