Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has pledged to rally workers to support Raila Odinga in the 2022 general elections while taking a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking at the Azimio la Umoja event in Kasarani, the outspoken trade unionist said the Second-in-Command is not qualified to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Atwoli further added that this is not the century to promise unemployed youths and Kenyans wheelbarrows.

"I'm pleased because I was the first one, back in 2014, to tell you that William Ruto cannot lead Kenya because this is not the century to give out wheelbarrows," Atwoli said.

He instead rooted for a Raila presidency saying he is the best person who can take the country to the next level. "We will support you because you will protect jobs, and you will fight for decent jobs for the millions of unemployed Kenyans," Atwoli said.
