Jubilee Party will face-off with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in Kiambaa Constituency and Muguga ward by-elections.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, the ruling party informed aspirants to submit their applications for nomination for the party's candidate in the mini-polls.

"The Jubilee Elections Board hereby gives notice to members of the Jubilee Coalition who are interested in the above electoral positions to submit their applications which should be received by the Jubilee Party Director of Elections in the prescribed form on or before 2nd of May 2021," the notice read in parts.

Jubilee notice came hours after UDA also directed its members seeking the party tickets in the aforementioned by-elections to apply.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries (IEBC) chair Wafula Chebukati on Friday issued a Gazette Notice declaring Kiambaa Parliamentary and Muguga ward seats vacant.

The by-elections were occasioned by the death of the respective office holders.

Former Kiambaa MP the late Paul Koinange died on March 31 while the former Muguga Ward MCA the late Eliud Ngugi died on March 16.

They both succumbed to Covid-19.

The two by-elections will no doubt experience high octane politics as it will most likely be used as a test-run for the 2022 polls.

UDA, linked to the Deputy President William Ruto, is said to have gained traction in the Mt Kenya region after most MPs from the region aligned themselves to the outfit.

Jubilee Party will be looking forward to stamping its authority and that of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the Mt Kenya region even as the debate on who controls the region rages on.

The two by-elections are slated for July 15 this year.
