Public Service and Gender Chief Administrative Secretary Beatrice Elachi has urged incoming Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu to seek God's intervention before assuming office.

In an interview with a local television on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Elachi counselled Kananu that only prayers can rescue her from the hostage of cartels at City Hall who make it difficult for elected leaders to execute their mandate.

"The incoming governor needs to pray for herself and ask God to give her wisdom and knowledge, and if not she will be in the same dock Sonko is. Elachi said.

The CAS further said Kananu needs to bring everyone on board, at the same time keep her juniors close for the success of Nairobi.

"If you have a good team, you can collect revenue of Ksh 50 billion to Ksh 80 billion from the 85 wards in just one year then you will need to embrace your team and work closely with them," Elachi added.

The divine advise comes a day after The Supreme Court dismissed an application by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko challenging the swearing-in of Anne Kananu as Nairobi’s next governor, saying it lacked jurisdiction.

The court had previously directed Kananu’s swearing-in to be put on hold for two weeks to allow Sonko to argue his matter.

Sonko was impeached following accusations of gross violation of the Constitution, abuse of office, and gross misconduct.
