Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i has today endorsed a Raila Odinga presidency come 2022.

Raila, Matiang’i who were accompanied by other leaders from the Gusii region met in Kisii today in what many interpreted to be the beginning of a close working relationship between the two leaders.

“Since the handshake, I have made it clear that I won’t go where the president and former prime minister are not,” Matiang’i said.

Matiang’i said Uhuru and Raila could not be ignored when it comes to determining who should be the next president, and that's why he was keenly following in their political footsteps.

The CS further challenged the Abagusii community in local dialect to rally behind Raila and support his bid to become the 5th president of Kenya in the upcoming elections.

"I want to assure the Abagusii community that I am right in between President Kenyatta and his handshake co-principal Raila and I know my space is in between them," Matiangi said.

The CS also revealed that he has already received blessings from the Gusii community to join other national leaders in bargaining for the community's political interests.

On his part Raila shook hands with Mating’i with the former premier adding it was a very moving moment for him due to the CS’s actions to endorse his bid.

Raila also took the opportunity to unite Kisii governor James Ongwae and Matiang’i as the two leaders buried the hatchet.

CS Eugene Wamalwa and Mutahi Kagwe who were also present endorsed a Raila Presidency come 2022.

A fortnight ago, former Mukurweini MP Kabando Wa Kabando said a Raila Presidency is increasing becoming a reality.
