Former National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta will dump his handshake partner and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga by January next year.

Speaking in an interview with a TV local station, Duale said that it was wrong for the ODM fraternity to think that President Kenyatta will support them for the presidency because of the handshake he had with Raila.

Duale claimed that the President will be reluctant to hand over his legacy to Raila. He claimed that President does not trust Raila to continue with the legacy he has built over the last nine years.

"Unfortunately, they (ODM) will think that the handshake will give dividends that will take them to State House. I want to tell them categorically President Uhuru Kenyatta by January will put off his phone, he will manage his succession. President Uhuru has a very good legacy and I am sure he does not want to destroy it," Duale said.

The vocal MP claimed that the President is only on Raila's side because he has issues with his party Jubilee party. He said that President Kenyatta is using the ODM party as a "surrogate" where he finds solace.

Duale further claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta will work with ODM MPs until the 2021/2022 budget is passed by Parliament next year, thereafter, he will dump them.
