Former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto's Chama Cha Mashinani has maintained that they will support Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 bid but not from within UDA.

The party's officials made the proclamation in response to a recent statement by DP Ruto that parties that wish to join forces with him in next year's polls should fold and join UDA.

Speaking after a party meeting chaired by their party leader, Acting Secretary General of Albert Kochei said the party decided that it will field aspirants in all other positions save for the presidency.

Kochei added that the party will not enter any coalition talks with UDA as it stands for democracy and political freedom of all Kenyans.

“We are not going into a coalition arrangement with UDA or any other party. We will only support the DP for presidency because his hustler ideology resonates with what CCM has been pushing for which is empowerment of ordinary Kenyans,” he said.

Kochei further stated that the country's democracy supports existence of multiple parties and that it was imprudent for a presidential candidate to force other political parties to dissolve if they are to work with him.

“Kenyans have learned from what has happened concerning the formation of Jubilee and its current state. People don’t want to go back to the same style of doing things and that is why all parties will be active during the elections as bargaining avenues with various aspirants,” he added.
