Jubilee MPs issue Ruto with stern warning for continuosly disrespecting Uhuru, Mt Kenya leaders
The Jubilee Parliamentary caucus has on Tuesday November 16, released a press statement addressing the conduct of Deputy President William Ruto during his past political campaigns.
The group of MPs, that majorly consists of lawmakers drawn from the Mt Kenya region, were particular with Ruto's remarks towards politicians from their vote-rich region.
"The attacks, disguised to sound like jest, have laid bare the DP's utter contempt for our region, our leaders and our people," the statement read in part.
The lawmakers stated that Ruto's string of attacks begun when he referred to President Uhuru Kenyatta as 'tapeli'. They add that the second-in-command further attacked Muranga senator Irungu Kang'ata, who is his avid supporter, by contemptuously telling him off for contributing ''too little" at a Harambee before unceremoniously kicking him out of the podium.
"Not content with these humiliations against our leaders the DP then trained his guns on Kiambu governor James Nyoro. To show disdain to all Mt Kenya leaders he then aimed text book insults at Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi," the statement read further.
The Mt Kenya caucus has stated that they have put the presidential hopeful on notice and issued him a stern warning. They added that they have the right to support whoever they want, and that their right to make their political choices must be respected.
"We also urge him to remember that the people he is insulting in public forums were voted for, by those he wants to get votes from," the statement concluded.
