Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo’s party will now field a candidate for Mahoo Ward By-election slated for December 16.

The seat fell vacant following the demise of Ronald Sagurani.

The MCA who was serving his second term in office passed away while undergoing medication at Pandya Memorial Hospital in Mombasa.

Speaking to the media, Kabogo said that Tujibebe Wakenya Party candidate Samuel Obwoge presented his nomination certificates on Monday and was cleared to vie.

He was accompanied by the party Interim Chairman, Enock Monari, the Party Interim Secretary-General, Gathii Irungu and the Director of ICT.

Tujibebe Party was recently issued with a certificate of full registration by the registrar of the political party after fulfilling the required requirements.

The former governor has expressed optimism that the people of Mahoo Ward will elect his candidate, as he is equal to the tasks ahead.

Kabogo called upon Kenyans who are eligible for voting to take advantage of the remaining one week to register to enable them to participate in the forthcoming by-election.

“Yesterday morning, our candidate for the Mahoo Ward By-election, Taveta Constituency, Hon. Samuel Obwoge, presented his nomination papers to IEBC, he was accompanied by the party Interim Chairman, Enock Monari, the Party Interim Secretary-General, Gathii Irungu and the Director of ICT,” Kabogo said.

Jubilee Party, ODM as well as UDA are expected to also field their candidates.

Already UDA party allied to Deputy President William Ruto has nominated Daniel Kimiyu while the Jubilee party has nominated Fundi Banton as its flag bearer.

UDA has former Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu, who has kicked off the campaigns as Ruto's point man, while Taveta MP Naomi Shaban represents Jubilee in the political duel.

Last month, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party called upon all the interested members to apply for the upcoming Mahoo ward.

The party in a statement had requested the individuals to submit their applications not later than Monday, October 4.
