Kanu forms Mt Kenya caucus in readiness for 2022 elections

A Mt Kenya regional Kanu caucus has been set up to start preparing the ground for 2022 election.

The caucus, which has representation from all the nine counties in the vote-rich region, will coordinate the party’s activities in the area.

Following the meeting in Kagio town, Kirinyaga, the caucus picked John Mukirai from Kiambu county as their chairman.

Peter Ndatho from TharakaNithi was named the Vice chairman, while Dickson Mukono from Embu is the secretary general.

Briefing the media after the appointment of the officials, Mukono said one of their crucial roles will be to vet candidates be seeking to vie on a Kanu ticket for all the elective posts come 2022 General Election.

Steering committee “Our caucus will also be the party steering committee which will be the overall in the management of its key functions and mandates in the region to ensure that our candidates were only those who have what it takes to win an election,” Mukono said.
