The Mount Kenya Foundation officials will on Thursday, December 9, hold an exclusive meeting at Safari Park Hotel to endorse Raila Odinga's presidential bid ahead of Azimio la Umoja event which is slated for Friday, December 10.

According to an invite seen by People Daily Digital, the statement states that the leaders will also address and discuss pertinent issues touching on the Mount Kenya region.

The invite was sent by Joe Murimi who is the group's Director of Communication.

“Mount Kenya Foundation will tomorrow endorse Raila Odinga presidential bid at Safari park and they will propose that OKA team should back him and have Musalia Mudavadi as his deputy, “he said.

According to a reliable source who sought anonymity, the foundation officials rated Raila Odinga as a preferred candidate after they conducted interviews with locals in the last two months.

The source said that Raila scored 75 per cent, followed by OKA's Musalia Mudavadi, Gideon Moi and Kalonzo Musyoka in that order.

In September, the elite group said it had been tasked by President Uhuru Kenyatta to present a name of a possible candidate to take over from him when he retires next year.

The team will also, on Friday, accompany Raila Odinga at Kasarani as he launches his presidential bid.

The president has also been invited to the occasion but sources say that he will not attend.

Though he will not be present, President Uhuru is said to have tasked Kieni MP Kanini Kega, Nominated MP Maina Kamanda and Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu to mobilize supporters from Mount Kenya to attend the event.
