Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has opined that the Mount Kenya region deserves a 40% share of the next government.

Kuria posits that prospective presidential candidates, eyeing votes from the vote-rich region, must table a deal that will see the region control 40% of their government.

The lawmaker was speaking in response to a viral remark by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, that has left Kenyans talking.

"If you listened to the Junet Mohammed video, you will understand why Mt Kenya is demanding 40% share of government and everything," he said.

The vocal politician further took issue with Junet's claim that Mt Kenya residents have enjoyed the trappings of power for close to 20 years and that it is now the turn of Nyanza locals to take over.

"Before you say we have enjoyed power for I don't know how many years, wekelea 40% first," he said.

In his statement that has attracted rebuke, ODM MP Junet Mohammed said that should Raila win the presidency, power will be centred in his Nyanza backyard.
