Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has hit back at COTU boss Francis Atwoli over his comments that Ruto will not be Kenya's 5th president.

Muthama claims that Atwoli's sentiments are ignorant and galvanised with pride and arrogance, given he has one vote.

“Francis Atwoli has only 1 vote yet has consistently claimed that William Ruto will not win the 2022 Presidential election. This is a weak argument that is ignorantly galvanized with pride and arrogance,” Muthama said.

The former senator also took the opportunity to quote the holy book, saying authorities that exist have been established by God and not men.

“The authorities that exist have been established by God, not men, as per Romans 13:1. Kenyans will overwhelmingly vote William Ruto to prove a point and to disapprove status quo,” Muthama said.

Atwoli has maintained that Deputy President William Ruto will not be Kenya's next president come 2022.

Speaking in an interview with a local TV channel, Atwoli said that DP Ruto will not win the presidential race, at least, not in the next year's general elections.

According to Atwoli, ODM leader Raila Odinga stands a higher chance of winning the presidential race, unlike the Deputy President. He noted that Raila is a good political organizer that DP Ruto cannot match.

Atwoli believes the deputy president lacks good advisors, something that he says will cost him the presidency in 2022.
