Political parties will not influence voting patterns in Mt. Kenya – Jamleck Kamau
Murang'a gubernatorial seat aspirant Jamleck Kamau has said political parties will not influence voting in Mount Kenya in the August 9 general elections.
Kamau said instead, people will go for individual leaders who have shown their capacity to lead in various elective posts and that the six piece suit will not apply this time around.
Speaking at Gakurwe in Kiharu, the aspirant said party euphoria messed up the last general elections and leaders who would have performed better were thrown out.
"The issue of political parties will not work out this time round. People have become wiser and will go for leaders based on their track record," he said.
"There are efforts being put to consolidate parties into a coalition so that people can vote alongside them but this might not work," he remarked.
Kamau also said, in the region, there is no strong candidate who can pull the masses to vote for his party as it was the case with President Uhuru Kenyatta when he was vying for presidency in 2013 and 2017.
"The two presidential candidates we have are not strong enough to command their influence on the residents," he added
Kamau said up to now, he is yet to decide which political vehicle he shall use to vie for the governor's seat adding that he shall make public his decision in a month's time.
"I shall go where my supporters will direct me because they know where their interests shall be taken care of," he said.
