Interior principal secretary Karanja Kibicho has said he will not be intimidated by calls from Deputy President William Ruto's allies condemning him and other cabinet members for participating in president Uhuru Kenyatta's succession politics.

Kibicho vowed that he and his boss Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i will not keep off politics and will engage Kenyans on the right political direction to take.

The PS further argued that it is within his mandate to discuss politics since he is a Kenyan and a vital person in the day to day political affairs of the country.

"It is within our legal right to conduct civic education to our people by giving them the right direction to use in voting in responsible leaders. As such, we shall not allow a few politicians to intimidate us because they think they should dictate to us how to perform our duties," Kibicho said.

Recently, Members of Parliaments allied to DP Ruto asked Kibicho and Matiang’i to resign for being engaged in 2022 politics.

The PS who was speaking on Friday in Ndia, Kirinyaga county asked the Ruto allied politicians to stop dragging his name and that of his boss to every political rally they attend.

In a past political rally, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i affirmed that he will not be intimidated by the resignation calls from the Tangatanga group.

A section of leaders allied to Ruto led by Alice Wahome (Kandara), Irungu Kang’ata (Murang’a), Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira) and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) has demanded the resignation of CSes Matiang'i, Mutahi Kagwe and Joe Mucheru over their alleged allegiance to ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The CSes have been accused by DP Ruto allies of openly endorsing Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga and at the same time campaigning for him.

In hard-hitting statements directed at the CSes, the pro-Ruto politicians have accused Matiang'i and Kibicho of interfering with Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) operations.

However, while responding on Monday, November 1, 2021, Matiang'i said that he was only answerable and accountable to the people of Kenya while upholding zero tolerance on those who encourage political intolerance.
