Race to succeed Wamuchomba as Kiambu Women Rep intensifies as singer Loise Kim declares interest
The clamour for the Kiambu Women Representative position is gathering steam months to the general elections that are slated for August.
At least six women have expressed interest to succeed Gathoni Wamuchomba who is salivating for Githunguri Constituency parliamentary seat.
The entrance of Loise Kim, a renowned gospel artiste in the hot race has turned around the political arithmetic with aspirants now going back to the drawing board to organize their cards better.
The gospel star announced her bid exclusively to People Daily Digital saying that the drive to transform the people of Kiambu including the youth and women has been pushing her to venture into politics.
"I have been doing charity work helping mothers, youths and persons with abilities. I can do wonders in Kiambu using my gospel name and the honourable title. We have a responsibility of bettering the lives of our people and I want to be counted in the process," she said.
Other hopefuls include the youthful Emma Wangari alias Mama Mwiko, Mary Kirika, Njeri Bakari and former Kiambu TNA coordinator Gladys Chania.
Kiambu Deputy Governor Joyce Ngugi and notable motivational speaker Ann Wamuratha are also reported to be eying the position.
When reached for comment, Wamuratha said that many people have been encouraging her to go for the position but she is yet to make a full determination.
"It's true people have been encouraging me and have even gone further to flicker the news online. I'm giving it a thought and in due course, I'll make the announcement," she said.
