Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has blasted Deputy President William Ruto for criticizing Chief Justice Martha Koome for chairing the election preparedness committee.

Speaking at a rally in Thika, Kiambu County, Kalonzo said that it was hypocritical for Ruto to cry over the independence of the Independence Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) yet when he (Kalonzo) and his colleagues in Nasa were championing for the independence of the commission, he (Ruto) was laughing at them.

"I remember when Wetangula and I were still in Cord, we were teargassed when were fighting for the independence of the IEBC. We were pushing for the disbandment of the commission.

At that time, Ruto was in Ukambani saying that it was his first time to see a vice president (Kalonzo) sitting on a tarmac road. He was laughing at me. How times changes, it is now his time to cry. He is crying right now but he is yet to cry more because he doesn't stand for the truth," Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo warned Ruto of trying to interfere with the independence of the Judiciary by criticizing the CJ. According to Kalonzo, CJ Koome is chairing the elections committee to ensure the elections are free and fair.

Kalonzo claimed that DP Ruto is only criticizing CJ Koome because "he is used to stealing other people's election".

The former vice president praised CJ Koome for being a highly educated person who is up to no harm for the country and her office should not be interfered with.
