Deputy President William Ruto has on Saturday October 16, 2021 announced that his administration will allocate Ksh120M to every constituency to support Kenyans in the small businesses sector.

The second-in-command, who was speaking at a whistle-stop rally in Kongowea Market in Mombasa County, stated that in addition to the Constituency Development Fund, his government will allocate the aforementioned amounts in line with his bottom-up economic model.

Ruto made the proclamation after he donated Ksh2M to traders in the market that has often been plagued by fire infernos. He stated that the donation was just a tip of the ice berg.

Ruto averred that should he ascend to power next year, his administration will focus on freeing small traders from the bondage of debts.

"Next year my administration will include in its budget, a special fund that will be geared at supporting small traders. We will allocate Ksh120M akin to the Constituency Development Funds. These funds will help us release hustlers from the shackles of debts," he said.

The DP was accompanied by a faction of Coastal leaders affiliated to him and his allies from other parts of the country, as he seeks to bolster his political fortunes in the region perceived to be Raila Odinga's bastion.
