Deputy President William Ruto has urged his political competitors to join United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party to fortify their chances of winning the 2022 general elections.

DP Ruto, who was addressing a rally in Butali, Kakamega County wooed Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford-Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula to join the UDA bandwagon ahead of the upcoming polls.

"I want to ask you, my supporters, do you want Mudavadi and Wetangula to work with hustler or not?" he posed amid cheers from the crowd.

Ruto further castigated the Mt Kenya Foundation for interviewing Musalia Mudavadi for the presidential position yet they knew that Raila was their preferred candidate.

“They conducted an interview for Musalia, and never gave him feedback of whether he passed or not, it is because they had a preferred candidate,” Ruto said.

DP Ruto was speaking in reference to the Mt Kenya Foundation tycoons, who endorsed the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader as their preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2022 polls.

The sentiments by DP Ruto comes at a time when there are speculations of Mudavadi decamping to UDA.

However, One Kenya Alliance (OKA) has dismissed the speculations and maintained that their alliance will remain united.

DP Ruto is on a political tour of Kakamega County as he seeks to consolidate his support base in the vote-rich region.

His latest visit comes in the backdrop of a resurgent Azimio La Umoja Movement wave in the region and a sustained campaign by Mudavadi to ring-fence what is considered his political bedrock.
