Siaya Senator James Orengo has castigated Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid saying he has nothing new to offer to Kenyans ahead of the August polls.

According to Orengo, the bottom-up economic model approach being proposed by DP Ruto is a plan to hoodwink Kenyans ahead of the fast-approaching polls.

Orengo, who was speaking in North Imenti, said DP Ruto has been in government for more than two decades and has nothing to show for all those years.

"DP Ruto has been in government for more than 20 years but has nothing to show for the years served, why should we elect such a person? " Orengo posed

Orengo further claimed that DP Ruto had failed in executing his constitutional mandate as the principal secretary of President Uhuru Kenyatta leaving the Head of State to run the government alone.

The Siaya Senator who is a close ally of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga further said Kenyans should repay the former premier by electing him to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"Raila was imprisoned for fighting for democracy and multiparty politics in the country alongside Kenneth Matiba and Charles Rubia while DP Ruto was busy campaigning against the current constitution," Orengo said.

Orengo asked Kenyans to teach Ruto a lesson by sending him home in the August polls.
