Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega has on Tuesday October 26, 2021 cautioned Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru that the red carpet reception she has received in UDA party is just for today and will be shortlived.

"The red carpet reception you have received is only valid for today. Save this post for future reference," he said.

Kega's reaction comes after Waiguru decamped from the ruling Jubilee party to Ruto's UDA party.

The county head was received by Deputy President William Ruto and a faction of women leaders affiliated to his party at his official residence in Karen, Nairobi.

The Jubilee governor was accompanied by a host of MCAs who have also declared their shift of allegiance to Ruto's nascent party.

Kanini, who has publicly declared his support for Raila Odinga's candidacy, posited that Waiguru will face unforeseen tribulations immediately after the fuss about her decamping ends.

According to the ex-Devolution minister, her change in heart was necessitated by the piling pressure amongst her constituents.

She said that Kirinyaga residents asked her to join Ruto's hustler nation since it is their preferred political vehicle in the 2022 Uhuru succession politics.
